Jai Darling - Vocalist, Drummer and Share Holder in Jack Daniels
Jai has only been singing for a couple of years, but is surprising a few people, as he has always been known as one of the best drummers in the Devon area . Jamie started drumming professionally at the age of 13. He originally started out like most kids..on pots and pans ! Although Drew Millin (his uncle) tried to teach him guitar, Jai was just interested in drums. At 13 Jamie had his 1st rock band "Once Bitten" along with school mates Adam Price and Dan Gorman." Once Bitten " quickly joined the local music scene to become the youngest band working in the Devon area. They even had their 1st single " Believer " played on local radio. But came to an end due to Exams etc...It's also worth mentioning when Jai was 14 he supplied drums for Jim Davidson's backing band at an after show party who included Drew Millin, Colin Reece and Smudger Smith, who Jai has remained close friends with.
Jamie was then offered the position of drummer with local metal band " Mad Hatter " featuring Nick.T on guitar. The band released a self titled album " Mad Hatter " which sold well and even got exposure on Radio 1 and was reviewed in Kerrang magazine. The guy's also had success with their highly acclaimed E.P " Hattertude ". After many tours, of the UK and Europe, supporting some big names in the business (Scorpions,Wolfsbane, Girlschool, Whitelion and Paul Di'anno), the band split.
In 1995, Jai went on to tour as drummer with Paul Di'anno (Iron Maiden). After some time in Cornwall, Jai was eagerly snapped up by Warner Chappell for old friends " Scapegrace ". He moved to London to live the dream of a record contract. The band had one release charting No. 78 in the British charts. Although a signed band, they didn't have the national success that " Mad Hatter " had.
Between 1998 - 2004, Jai has been busy reclaiming his name as a drummer and has played with many of the best names in Devon including : Miss U.K., Soft Toy Heroes, Spiny Norman, Scott McGowan band, The Machine, Duke Johnson, Wriggler, Stimulator, Purple Haze and Drew Millin & Friends and now with sister band ' Crossfire '.
In 2003/2004, Jai had been singing, percussionist and drummer for local group " Somethin' Else ". But decided to leave to concentrate on Rockology.
Jai says," I feel like I've re-invented myself and i hope people are enjoying what Rod & i are doing. Because I'm having a ball and working with Rod is the best ! Music has been my life, if i gave it up....I might as well not exist !"
